Happy New Year <yes, we are indeed 17 days in to January, but nonetheless, Not Pink wishes you all the love, health and happiness for this next season of life>. Just like every January, I enjoy listening to other people's trend predictions, forecasts and manifestations for the new year, so here's Not Pink's input <the only input we all need, right?>.

Belts

Trend forecast 1, Belts. Are you a belt wearer? When you put on a pair of jeans, trousers or a skirt, do you think, "Sh*t where did I put my belt?, I need it?"... yeah me neither.

Gradually popping up over my Pinterest feed is chunky belts, thin belts, chain belts, double belts stacked on top of one another, black belts, brown belts, so. many. belts. At first, I didn't really have an attraction nor desire to purchase one but I believe with a rise in minimalist fashion over maximalist fashion, additions like belts, bags, necklaces are important to making an outfit have it's very own moment.

The rose touch

Trend forecast 2, the rose deign in bags, necklaces and scarfs have been a subtle trend cropping up across social media recently, and we are NOT complaining.

NAKD is the only clothing brand, which I've seen this concept offered online, so run don't walk to their site.

@Matildadjerf, every girls golden girl, uploaded this to her story yesterday of an embellished rose black leather bag and instantly, I was reminded of this trend that I had noted down a few weeks ago. There's something so delicate, intricate and expensive about this design, and one I can see taking plight in this next season of life. @Sofiamcoelho also spotted, wearing her rose strap-like necklace, paired with a red top and black midi skirt. Kendall Jenner too was spotted styling a similar concept to Sofia.

You have been warned.

The return of the bomber jacket

Trend forecast 3 aligns with that of AWFW 22, which saw the return of the bomber jacket. Exhibited all over the runway from the likes of David Koma, Off White and (Di)vision, Not Pink has a strong sense we all need to invest in one for this upcoming season of life.

The enhanced drop shoulder, exaggerated puffy sleeve and well placed zips, buckles and pockets were the fashionable design aspects that caught the eyes of the contemporary consumer, Not Pink included.

The contemporary consumer loves an inexpensive staple piece that goes with everything. Depending on where you want to enter the market for this outerwear item, you can find some fabulous alternatives online.

As I remember bomber jackets, I remember the one in army green with orange lining from Topshop, <ahhh the good ol days!>, but in this next season of life, let's make a promise that we will transition from that, to this.

Flats VS Platform

Has the time come? If you were to tell me this a few months ago, I would have replied "Nope! Never!". Dare I say it <type it, you know what I mean>, but the majority of sought after trainers nowadays consist of the likes of the New Balance 550s, Nike Dunks and Adidas Giselle's, these all exist fashionably without a raised platform in sight. Shocking right?. Currently, I am enjoying seeing the different colour ways and how people are choosing to style them but at heart, I'll always be a platform trainer kind of gal, but we can admire and appreciate from a far.

There's this newly found appreciation for minimalist fashion heading in to 2023, perhaps it's a covid thing, perhaps we all felt like doing that bit more last year, but as for this new season of life, simplicity is in and maximalism is out.

Flat trainers and kitten heels > platform trainers and chunky heels, am I right ladies?

Royal Blue

Can a colour even be a trend predication or manifestation? ... Who cares, but lately I have found myself wanting to pair all my outfits with dark blue accessories, not like a Navy blue but more of a rich royal blue.

Recently, I bought an orange satin skirt from Topshop and also added a bag to my basket in this exact colour, <major regrets not following through with this purchase combination>, but I am really excited to style this trend some more.

I guess you could call this one random, or tell me I've watched Avatar one too many times but perhaps, when you are next looking for a complimentary colour to match your outfit, why not try Royal Blue.

Hope you enjoyed this entry and happy next new season of life x
