When starting Not Pink, as much as I wanted to share my love and appreciation for fashion, I also envisioned this medium as a tool to educate myself on the industry. And so, this segment, 'Brand of the moment', will be formatted to educate the reader, and myself, enveloping us all further in to this crazy compact world, that is Fashion.

In fashion, there are millions of brands, producing millions upon millions of clothing items per annum, but to recall every brand and every clothing item, is near enough impossible, only the most notable can make it to the catwalk, the red carpet, the movies, the photoshoots and most importantly, be the 'brand of the moment'.
And so we begin with Miu Miu, the brand most commonly known for their ultra mini mini mini mini mini mini skirts .... yes that one!, however this is not all ... their apparel pieces captures divine femininity to a T. Let's paint the picture, <we love to do this as an activity here at Not Pink, it helps us to fully understand what is going on, or at least I believe so anyway lol>, think pink ribbons, lace material, ballet pumps and mini-everything, from bags to bras, this Ladies and Gentlemen is Miu Miu.
Miu Miu, a brand belonging to the Prada Group, was founded by Miuccia Prada <get it, the first three letters of her name is, M I U = Miu Miu, so clever> in 1992, and produces ready to wear clothing for the feminine silhouette.
We read the term, 'Ready to wear' in fashion a lot, in blog posts, social media uploads, brand websites, but what does it mean... well it's French translation is prêt-à-porter, in fact there was no real reason to include this but it sounded fancy and a fact we add to our fact wallet. It is the given term to clothing
which is disposable for anyone to purchase 'off the rack', it is standardised in terms of its sizing and is sold on a global scale.
Whereas haute couture is not standardised, but instead, customised to the individual, alluding to the item's uniqueness, one of a kind status and the individual's richness tbh, like Sofia RICHie kind of rich, < I wonder if this is her nickname in her friendship group, if so, Sofia, If you are reading this, feel free to use it, it is your name after all>.
Miuccia Prada is the granddaughter to Maria Prada, who is the founder of the fashion mogul house ... I don't think you'll get it guys, it really isn't all that obvious, but it is Prada. This family love to use their name, letters in their full name etc to come up with the brand ... oh to have a chic first and last name, hence Not Pink and not Anna Aitken, and it still doesn't sound half as powerful as P R A D A fml.
Miu Miu paints the picture of divine femininity, however in the early 2000s, Miu Miu once catered for men too, until Miuccia realised that men suck, and refused to cater for them much longer ... just joking, I actually don't know why she stopped ...

Ah, Miu Miu's menswear line wasn't profiting as much. That was the reason.
However, in the Fall/Winter of 22', Miu Miu took to the runway with apparel piece draped across the male physique, perhaps a node to menswear at Miu Miu returning? or showcasing that Miu Miu clothing can be worn fluidly across all genders?. I'd love to see a Miu Miu menswear make a revival, what do you guys think?.
The books tell that Miu Miu, the brand, is a reflection of Miu Miu, the creative's, wardrobe, and with that being said, Miu Miu is described as 'Prada's edgier sister', 'the rebellious child of the Prada house', 'a plucky little sister to Prada' and the list goes on. The media, the consumers and the celebrities have succumbed to the excitement of this brand's execution both on and off the runway, because they are playful, fearful and clever in their designs.
Iconic moments follow Miu Miu as though fashion depends on it. Drew Barrymore, at the time of Miu Miu's birth, was the picture perfect candidate for this brands first celebrity ad campaign, and boy oh boy, it worked. Miu Miu get it, a lot of (eek) high fashion houses don't, perhaps because I belong to the contemporary side of fashion at this point in time, and not traditional, I see it this way, but Miu Miu understands the task when it comes to offering to the adolescents. This photo is powerful, relatable and on brand ... boom.

Miu Miu release two capsule collections per annum, one in the Spring/Summer and another in Fall/Winter. SS23 for Miu Miu exhibits a neutral palette, from beige to black and everything in between. Most beautifully, all 64 looks flooded the catwalk in a rainbow demonstration, with model 1 opening in a brighter ensemble and model 64 closing in a far darker getup, showcasing how these pieces can be paired in multiple ways without clashing. Miuccia Prada revealed after the show that, "I'm very serious but also fun. I am both!", the contradictions in sayings were obvious in this show.
This was insightful, I hope you learnt something new!.
See you in the next upload,
